The Minardi PS02 F1 OW 2002 is a single-seater open-wheel Formula One racing car designed and developed by Italian racing team Minardi. It was the first ever car made under the ownership of former team owner and Formula One legend, Paul Stoddart. The PS02 was the first of six Minardis that raced in Formula One with the other five competing in the following seasons. The PS02 featured a prominent carbon-fiber monocoque with an aluminum honeycomb inner core. It was also fitted with a Mecachrome V10 engine which was reliable yet powerful, producing 890 horsepower at 18,500 RPM. This was paired with a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox for optimal shifting. The performance of the PS02 was further complemented by aero-dynamically designed suspension, which allowed the Minardi to corner at impressively high rates of speed. This allowed the Minardi to remain competitive on race day, proving capable of achieving top-ten finishes, despite limited resources. In terms of design, the Minardi PS02 had a striking aesthetic, thanks to an adjustable rear wing and stylish sidepods. The car was mostly made up of bright red colors, although it was finished off with the odd light grey accents. The Max Kinetic branding was prominent over the cars bodywork, a testament to Paul Stoddarts sponsorship agreement with the oil company. With all this in mind, the Minardi PS02 F1 OW 2002 stands out as one of Minardis most successful Formula One cars. Despite limited resources, it managed to remain competitive and provide drivers with a reliable single-seater that could challenge with the best.
