The Minardi PS01-F1 OW 2001 race car was a shining example of the pinnacle of mid-level budget racing technology. The car featured a low-slung carbon-fiber chassis and a flat-12 cylinder engine producing a peak of 897 horsepower. The sophisticated aerodynamics allowed the car to generate prodigious amounts of downforce to make it perfectly suited for the tight, twisty circuits of the Formula One racing paddock. The car featured a unique front suspension system, with the front shock absorbers mounted in the cars nose to reduce the moment arm and therefore reduce drag. The car was fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox and a race-spec carbon clutch, and a new cooling system that was specifically designed for the 2001 season. Additionally, the car was fitted with a variety of lightweight components to minimize its weight, and featured an F1/10 gearbox that could shift more than 4,000 rpm. The car also featured adjustable rear suspension arms and a carbon-fiber rear wing for fine-tuning the aerodynamic balance of the car. The combination of lightweight components, aerodynamics and exceptional power output of 897 horsepower gave the Minardi PS01 a superior performance on the track, allowing drivers to generate perfect balance in cornering and braking. This made the car highly sought after by drivers and teams alike and demonstrated Minardis commitment to producing race-winning cars.
