The Ligier JS37 F1 OW 1992 is a classic Formula 1 racing car that was designed and built by French manufacturer Ligier Automotive. Billed as the original French Grand Prix car, the JS37 made its debut in the 1991 Formula One season and featured an aerodynamically-efficient monocoque chassis made from high tensile steel. The chassis was mated to an aspirated 3.5-litre, double-overhead cam (DOHC) V8 engine that delivered up to 650 horsepower, driven through a six-speed semi-automatic transmission. It was the successor of the JS35 and featured a number of significant features that made it even more competitive on the Grand Prix circuit. The Ligier JS37 F1 OW 1992 sported a broad, low profile that incorporated newly-developed aero technologies. It included aerodynamic features such as a larger rear spoiler, side pods, and an arrowhead nose to reduce drag and enhance downforce. Combined with the cars lightweight and extra-stiff monocoque chassis, the JS37 was capable of achieving blistering straight-line acceleration and cornering speeds. The engine was mounted longitudinally mid-long and powered the rear wheels, while the adjustable suspension featured titanium wishbones and pushrods with a wide range of options, allowing race drivers to adjust their cars set-up both at the circuit and in the pits. It also featured an integrated roll-cage, designed to protect the driver in the event of an accident. The JS37s interior was surprisingly modest, with a simple instrument cluster and leather-wrapped steering wheel. It was a real drivers car, with the focus placed entirely on performance and minimum drag. As such, few options were available, but the Ligier JS37 F1 OW 1992 was a popular car among the drivers and, at its peak, proved itself to be one of the most successful Formula One cars of its era.
