The Ligier JS7 F1 OW 1977 was a Formula One racing car from the French manufacturer, Ligier. The car was driven by Jacques Laffite in the 1977 season and was one of the most successful Ligier cars of that year, winning the race at Montjuich, Spain. It was the ultimate iteration of the JS7 model, and was powered by a Ford-Cosworth DFV engine, producing around 500bhp. The car was remarkably designed with a light and aerodynamic structure, which allowed it to achieve better speeds than its rivals. The chassis was made of lightweight aluminum, and the body was covered with Kevlar and carbon fibre for extra rigidity. The suspension was also optimized for the performance, as it was equipped with double wishbone system. The wheels were 16" rims, resized with Pirelli P 0 tires for the racing performance. The JS7 had an innovative single-clutch and four-gear-box system, which was capable of changing gears in less than 12 milliseconds. This system was responsible for delivering optimal power over a large range of speeds, allowing the car to easily reach the top speeds necessary on the track. Furthermore, the cockpit was purpose-built for the driver, with adjustable pedals and steering wheel in order to provide the most comfortable and responsive driving experience. The dashboard was also fitted with comfortable gauges to provide the driver with all the necessary information during a race, such as oil pressure, fuel levels, and temperature. Overall, the Ligier JS7 F1 OW 1977 was a revolutionary car, which led the way in terms of racing technology and performance. Its lightweight and aerodynamic design, combined with its advanced drivetrain system, made it one of the best race cars of that era.
