The Object 277 was a Soviet-era experimental heavy tank developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It was designed to replace the T-10 heavy tank, which was in service with the Soviet Army at the time. The Object 277 featured a powerful 1,000-horsepower diesel engine, which gave it excellent mobility and speed for a tank of its size. It was also equipped with a 130mm smoothbore gun, which was capable of firing a variety of ammunition types, including high-explosive, armor-piercing, and anti-tank guided missiles. The tank had a thick layer of armor plating, which provided excellent protection against enemy fire. It also had a number of advanced defensive systems, including smoke grenade launchers and a laser warning system, which could detect and warn the crew of incoming missile attacks. Despite its promising design, the Object 277 never entered production due to the high cost of development and the advent of more advanced tanks, such as the T-64 and T-72. However, several prototypes were built and tested, and the tank remains an important piece of Soviet military technology history.
