The Object 287 is a Soviet prototype heavy tank that was larger than the famous IS-7 heavy tank and was designed to fight off any heavy tanks of the enemies. It had a fierce, menacing look that struck fear into all of its opponents. The Object 287 was equipped with a monstrous 140mm gun, which made it one of the most powerful tanks in history. This tank was also equipped with a turret which featured spaced armor plating and an advanced form of torsion bar suspension. The tank itself was highly armored, able to withstand and fight against enemy tank fire from the front, sides, and rear. The Object 287 was powered by a diesel engine with a power output of 1500 horsepower, allowing its top speed to reach up to 55 kilometers per hour (about 34 MPH). The tank's crew consisted of four people: the commander, driver, gunner, and loader. In terms of fire rate, the Object 287 was incredibly powerful. It could fire up to 12 rounds per minute, matching any other heavy tank in the world. It could go on to have an impressive range of up to 6.5 kilometers. The Object 287, however, was never produced in quantity and did not enter mass production. Its development stopped in 1951 and it simply vanished from public sight. It still remains an enigma in the Soviet tank history.
