The Lotus 102 F1 OW 1990 was a Formula One racing car manufactured by the British automotive company, Lotus. This race car was based off of the Lotus 101 chassis which was developed in 1989, and featured a Lotus-designed Ford HB V8 engine. The 102 F1 OW had a 0.5L displacement and a Type 999 V8 engine that was capable of producing 700 horsepower and 520 lbft of torque. Along with this powerplant, the vehicle had a six-speed manual transmission and a semi-automatic transmission, which allowed the driver to shift between gears quickly and efficiently. The body of the 102 F1 OW was made of lightweight and aerodynamic composite materials including carbon fiber and Kevlar. This allowed the car to weigh just 1,213 kg and gain an additional boost in aerodynamics. The design of the car was highly sophisticated and its driver cabin was narrow and contoured for optimal driver comfort. The car also featured four-wheel drive and a semi-active suspension system for maximum control and stability. The 102 F1 OW was driven in competition by drivers like Johnny Herbert, David Coulthard, Mika Hkkinen, Martin Donnelly and Pedro Lamy. Despite the teams limited success, the 102 F1 OW race car remains an iconic symbol of Lotuss Formula One history.
