The Lotus 95T GP of Canada OW 1984 is an iconic F1 racing car and an icon of the era. Built by the legendary Formula One engineering team of Team Lotus and designed by the equally legendary legendary designer Nigel Bennett, the Lotus 95T was the car that helped Lotus claim their 5th Constructors' Title during the 1984 season. The 95T was distinct in many ways from its predecessors: its nose was longer, its airbox was deeper and its sidepods were wider. With the more aggressive aerodynamic package, it had effective front-end downforce and less drag. This allowed it to be a front-runner in 1984. In terms of powertrain, the 95T was equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-litre Renault EF15B engine that churned out 745 bhp. It was paired with a Hewland six-speed transmission and a Lotus-designed semi-automatic gearbox. This enabled it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 201 mph. The 95T's chassis was constructed from a lightweight carbon fibre and aluminium honeycomb composite monocoque that weighed just 285 kgs. This light frame enabled the 95T to have excellent rack and pinion steering, giving it excellent handling. The double-wishbone suspension and outboard mounted dampers provided exceptional grip and agility in the track. The Lotus 95T was equipped with Brembo brakes and Goodyear tyres to provide it with the best stopping power and grip on the track. This allowed the 95T's drivers to take advantage of the performance gains, helping them to win races in Canada. In 1984, Nigel Mansell won the GP of Canada with the 95T, cementing Team Lotus' position as one of the most competitive teams in Formula One.
