The Lotus 25 Climax F1 OW 1963 is a vintage Formula One race car developed by Lotus and powered by a Coventry Climax four-cylinder 1.5-litre engine. The car had a lightweight aluminium monocoque frame featuring front and rear subframes, with suspension by double wishbones, coil springs, and telescopic dampers acting on each wheel. It had a five-speed Hewland gearbox located in the rear of the car. The engine was capable of producing 145 horsepower and a top speed of 140 mph. With its low weight and excellent aerodynamics, the car was capable of cornering at high speed with terrific grip and response. The sleek and beautiful Lotus 25 featured a two-seater cockpit with a small instrument panel, and a long rear canopy that helped to streamline the car and reduce drag. The body was constructed of fiberglass and aluminium, and featured a wide-open nose, a large air scoop behind the driver's seat, and a unique "wing-like" shape that increased air flow around the car and gave it more downforce. The car was also equipped with an adjustable rear wing and a large venturi tube for maximum aerodynamic performance. Throughout its racing career, the car proved to be very competitive and was regularly driven to victory by its legendary drivers, including Jim Clark, Graham Hill, and Jackie Stewart. Today, the Lotus 25 occupies an important place in Formula One history, and is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
