The Lotus Mk II Le Mans OW 1956 was a single-seater sports racing car manufactured by Colin Chapman's Lotus brand. This iconic vehicle was the first Lotus to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a true symbol of race success and performance. The car featured a lightweight body shell crafted from sheets of aluminum, a fiberglass nosecone, and a single exposed roll-bar structure along the roof of the vehicle. The Mk II's engine was a 4-cylinder, 1586 cubic centimeter Coventry Climax unit mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and produced around 150 horsepower. The vehicle was equipped with an independent front suspension, and a rigid live axle with trailing arms and lever shocks on the rear. Its brakes, meanwhile, were 4-wheel Dunlop drum brakes. It was able to achieve top speeds between 115 and 120mph and corner at speeds far exceeding the expectations of the day.
