The Lotus 102B Formula One was a race car that was designed for the 1991 season and was the fourth car to be driven by the Lotus team for that year. It was a lightweight chassis constructed using carbon-fibre composite technology, combining a very high strength to weight ratio with wide body aerodynamics. This car boasted a highly-tuned and hard-revving Cosworth DFV 3.5-litre engine which produced approximately 600 bhp and was good for a maximum speed of 220 mph. The suspension was setup in a double wishbone and pushrod system. This allowed the driver to get precise control giving the 102B agility and speed in the corners. The brakes were ventilated carbon-fibre composite discs to decrease unsprung mass and cooling fins to reduce brake temperatures, with Brembo calipers providing ample stopping power. The wheels were 13-inch magnesium-alloy rims with low profile tyres to reduce rolling resistance. To add to the aerodynamic profile of the car, the 102B featured full length side vents and a large rear wing. The paint for the car was a glossy white with a bright green ruler line down the side and a bold Lotus logo to display the teams pride. A truly iconic car for the legendary Lotus team.
