The AMC 35 (Automitrailleuse de Combat modle 1935) was a French light tank developed in the 1930s. It was designed to provide reconnaissance and infantry support capabilities, serving alongside other armored vehicles in the French Army during the early stages of World War II. The AMC 35 was armed with a 47mm SA 35 tank gun, effective against both enemy armor and fortifications, capable of penetrating the armor of most tanks of the era. It also featured a coaxial 7.5mm Reibel machine gun for engaging infantry and soft targets. The armor thickness of the AMC 35 varied, with a maximum of around 25mm, which provided adequate protection against small arms fire and shrapnel, but made it vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. The tank was powered by a 4-cylinder, 120 hp gasoline engine, providing a top speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) on roads and a range of about 160 km (100 miles), allowing it to operate effectively in a variety of combat scenarios. The AMC 35 had a crew of three, consisting of a commander, a gunner, and a driver. Despite its innovative design for the time, it was eventually overshadowed by more advanced tanks and played a limited role in the early battles of World War II.
