Specifications Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J blueprint

The Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. J (Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J) was the final production model of the German Panzer IV medium tank, produced during the later stages of World War II. Introduced in 1944, the Ausf. J was designed with several simplifications and modifications to speed up production and reduce costs as Germany faced increasing resource constraints. The primary armament was the 7.5 cm KwK 40 L/48 gun, effective against enemy armor and fortifications. The tank also featured a coaxial 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun and another MG34 mounted in the hull for engaging infantry and soft targets. One of the significant changes in the Ausf. J was the removal of the electric turret traverse system, replaced by a manual hand crank, which saved resources but made the turret slower to turn. The turret also had additional space for increased storage of ammunition, raising the capacity to 87 rounds. The armor was slightly improved with some areas receiving additional 5 mm plates, but overall, it retained the thickness of up to 80 mm on the front. Powered by a Maybach HL 120 TRM engine, the tank had a top speed of about 38 km/h (24 mph) and a range of 210 km (130 miles) on roads, thanks to an auxiliary external fuel tank. Despite these adaptations, the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. J was increasingly outmatched by more advanced Allied tanks and aircraft. Nevertheless, it remained a critical component of German armored forces until the end of the war, valued for its reliability and the effectiveness of its main gun.
