The Tyrrell 015 is a Formula One racing car that was built and raced by the Tyrrell team for the 1986 season. The car was designed by Harvey Postlethwaite and featured many unique aerodynamic features including curved sidepods, an even shorter wheelbase than its predecessor, and its signature "dolphin fin" above the engine cover. Its striking red, white, and blue livery further marked it as a Tyrrell. Underneath the bodywork, the car featured a powerful Ford Cosworth DFV engine, mated to a Hewland five-speed manual transmission. On the suspension side, the 015 featured a double wishbone front suspension and a rear suspension comprising of a single-sided lower wishbone connected to a single-sided top torsion bar, as well as two anti-roll bars. Performance wise, the 015 was a potent package, and would collect multiple podiums over the course of its short stint in Formula One. However, its performance was hampered slightly by the lack of downforce generated by its unique aerodynamic features, and with teams beginning to understand the importance of downforce, the 015's days were numbered. Nevertheless, the Tyrrell 015 remains an important car in Formula One history and marks an iconic chapter in Tyrrell's racing legacy.
