The Tyrrell 019 F1 OW was a 1990 Formula One racing car built by the British Tyrrell Racing team. It was designed to be an all-conquering race car, and was the first car from the historic team to be powered by a V10 engine. This would prove to be an advantage as other teams had V12 or V8 engines. The 019 was a radical design with some innovative features. It had a low drag chassis and was largely constructed from lightweight composite materials. The car had a double wishbone suspension at both the front and rear, and to reduce the center of gravity, the radiators were located at the sides. To improve handling in fast cornering, the cars used active suspension technology that was considered revolutionary at the time. The car had an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 553bhp per ton, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 325km/h. The V10 engine had a displacement of 2.5 liters and posted up to 1000bhp. It had a maximum torque of 185 Nm at 9500 rpm. For the 1990 Formula One season, the Tyrrell 019 was driven by Jean Alesi and Jonathan Palmer, and proved to be a reliable racing car. In its first season, the 019 managed to win one race and finished in eight other podium positions, taking renowned twelfth place in the Driver's Championship and fifteenth place in the Constructor's Championship.
