The Matra MS120B F1 OW 1971 was a formula one racing car produced by Matra Automobiles, and driven by english racing driver, Henri Pescarolo, for the Matra F1 team during the 1971 season. The car was built to the 1971 Formula One specifications and incorporated an aluminum monocoque chassis. The V12 engine featured a longitudinally-mounted air-cooled 5.0 liter Ford-Cosworth DFV, which produced up to 490hp at 11,500rpm. In terms of aerodynamics, the car featured a flat low body with full-span slotted fenders, a large air-intake at the nose, and two vertical inlets located at the rear of the car. Disc brakes at all four wheels provided ample stopping power. The car was outfitted with independent coil suspension at the front and a double-wishbone rear. With Pescarolo at the wheel, the car had great success and earned a total of two race victories in 1971. Its unique design, solid construction, and powerful engine made the Matra MS120B F1 OW 1971 one of the most successfull cars of its time.
