The Lotus 87B F1 GP OW 1982 is a single seater race car developed by the iconic British manufacturer Lotus, which dominated the Formula One World Championship in the early 80s. Standing out from the crowd thanks to its iconic yellow and black livery, the 87B was a revolutionary machine that changed the face of Formula One in its era. With its turbocharged Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine capable of producing up to 580hp at 11,500rpm, the car was able to reach speeds of up to 330kph. Boasting a chassis made from lightweight carbon fibre and an aerodynamic design which included an air-splitter, the 87B was light and agile on the track, and proved to be a highly competitive car throughout its three years in Grand Prix competition. Spanning from 1982 to 1984, the car obtained several victories, including the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix and the 1982 French Grand Prix. Despite its success on the track, the 87B was retired in 1985 due to the rise of the turbocharged design and the new regulations of the FIA. Nonetheless, the Lotus 87B F1 GP OW 1982 remains an iconic and important Formula One car in the history of the sport.
