The GAZ 61 4x4 SUV 1941 is a classic Russian automobile and the first mass-produced 4x4 Soviet off-road vehicle. It was produced between 1941 and 1957 by the Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod, or GAZ for short. At 4.2 meters long, it is a fairly large vehicle for its era. Its rugged yet simple design and heavy-duty construction make it capable of tackling any off-road conditions. The GAZ 61 is powered by a 3.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces a modest 53 horsepower, but its four-wheel drive system makes up for the lack of power, allowing it to traverse any terrain with ease. The GAZ 61 features the iconic round headlights and a vertical front grille which is a nod to its GAZ predecessors, although updated with more modern touches. It comes with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Its two-door body is made from sheet steel and assembled with sturdy rivets. Inside the cabin, the GAZ 61 is relatively spartan, seating up to five passengers comfortably. It comes with two benches up front and two in the rear, as well as a variety of additional features such as adjustable headrests, armrests and a clock. This classic Russian off-road vehicle is a true testament to the strength and durability of Soviet engineering.
