The GAZ AA Truck, also known as the " Fordson" was designed and produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant in the Soviet Union from 1932. The GAZ AA was an improvement of the Ford Model AA car and was the most important light truck of its time in the Soviet Union. This truck had four-wheel drive, which made it very reliable and durable. It was powered by a 4-cylinder side-valved 4353 cc petrol engine, capable of producing 40 hp, with a top speed of 65 km/h (40 mph). The GAZ AA had a robust all-welded steel body and frame built on a separate chassis. The truck was fitted with a 3-speed manual transmission and had an overall length of 4.55m and a width of 2.00m. The design of the GAZ AA could accommodate up to 2 tons of cargo and could easily traverse through rough terrain. It had a robust suspension based on a solid front axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs on the front and rear. The interior of the GAZ AA was basic but functional. The dashboard was simple, finished in black enamel, and had analog instruments and basic controls. The driver was seated at the right, while the passenger was seated at the left. The cabin featured two side windows that could be opened or closed and the truck had adjustable bucket seats for the driver and passenger. The GAZ AA was a vital part of the Soviet transportation industry during the 1930s and 1940s and to this day, the GAZ AA is still seen in Russia as a powerful and reliable vehicle.
