The GAZ 69A Wagon, released in 1953, is an off-road passenger and military vehicle. It was designed for use on rough terrain, but is equally at home on tarmac roads. With classic styling and sturdy build, the GAZ 69A stands the test of time, and is known for its reliability and capability. The GAZ 69A is built on a 4x4 chassis and powered by a carbureted 2.5 liter 4-cylinder powerplant, these engines were reliable and offer adequate power. Steering is via a recirculating ball system and brakes are four-wheel drum type. With a proven, simple set of design technologies, the GAZ was tough and could be outfitted with either a single or double cab, a truck bed, a roof, or none of the above. Bodywise, most of the lineup was unpainted steel, although certain versions sported Russian three-color paint jobs. The outside featured a split windshield and the signature boxy design. Inside, the GAZ was well-appointed and included all the necessary features such as a speedometer, temperature gauge, flooring, and seats. The team also included plenty of places to stow away gear, tools, and other equipment, making it a preferred vehicle of use for the military. Even today, many original 69As are being used in rural areas. The 1953 GAZ 69A is an enduring, classic off-roader that stands the test of time, and is known for its reliability and capability.
