The McLaren M23 F1 GP OW 1974 was a racecar designed and developed by McLaren for Formula One racing. It was built to compete in the 1974 World Championship and was designed by chief engineer Gordon Coppuck. It was the last racecar designed and built exclusively by the McLaren team and the first to feature their iconic "McLaren Orange" livery and the M23 becoming their most successful car. The McLaren M23 was designed with a monocoque Tubular Chassis, a fuel injected Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 engine, and modified Hewland FG400 five-speed manual gearbox with a hydraulic clutch. With a zero to sixty time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of around 217 mph, the M23 was one of the fastest cars of its day. The aerodynamic design of the M23 allowed it to be highly effective in both Direct Steering and Suspension setups and the car featured four-wheel independent suspension with adjustable antiroll, lower wishbone, and inboard coil springs. In addition, its body featured fiberglass and aluminum sections. The McLaren M23 F1 GP OW 1974 was a reliable and powerful racecar that represented McLaren at the height of its success as an Automotive Racing team.
