Specifications Lamborghini Murcielago Coupe 2001 blueprint

The Murcilago is a supercar from Italian automaker Lamborghini. It is the brands first car under Audi management. Designed by Luc Donckerwolke, it aims to compete with the Ferrari 575M in the super-sports segment. The name Murcilago - bat in Spanish - evokes that of a bull famous for having withstood 24 sword blows during a bullfight in 1879. The Murcielago, released in 2002, succeeds the Diablo from which it takes over the engine. V12 whose displacement is increased to 6.2 L. This develops 580 horsepower. A so-called Barchetta roadster version of the Murcielago appeared in spring 2004. The second generation of Murcilago appeared in 2006 with the LP 640-4 and its roadster version. This new Murcilago sees its displacement increased to 6.5 liters for a power of 640 hp. A special series called LP 650-4 Roadster then saw the light of day as well as an ultra-sporty version, the LP 670-4 SV, in autumn 2009. Murcilago, bat in Spanish, is the name of a famous bull that withstood 24 sword blows in 1879 in the arenas of Cordoba. The matador thus chose to spare his life. The bull was then offered to Don Antonio Miura whose breeding served as the name for the Lamborghini Miura. The first version was only available in two-seater coup bodywork. In 2004, the manufacturer presented the Roadster version. This version differs from the coupe in the body of the rear part quite different and its price significantly higher. The mechanical characteristics remain the same. The engine used on this model is the Lamborghini V12 with 6.2 liters of displacement developing 580 hp (427 kW). The transmission is permanent integral with a central joint called viscous traction that the Murcilago shares with the Lamborghini Gallardo. The car is fitted with various accessories such as the rear spoiler which can be swiveled up to 70 degrees, mirrors which fold up at very high speed to limit aerodynamic resistance and side air intakes which, again automatically, open for guarantee the volume of air necessary to cool the engine.
