In December 2004, two Gallardos were donated by Lamborghinis to the Italian police in honor of their 152nd birthday. The Gallardo are used by the traffic police (Polizia Stradale) on the Salerno - Reggio motorway. Painted in blue and white like the other Italian police vehicles, they are also equipped with a flashing light and a siren, they have first aid equipment with cardiac defibrillator, a resuscitation kit, and a refrigerated box for transporting organs. The all-wheel drive and Sottozero snow tires specially developed by Pirelli for Lamborghini allow the Italian police to intervene in all weather conditions.
