It was in 2008, at the Geneva Motor Show, that the reworked version of the Gallardo, the Gallardo LP560-4, was presented. Its denomination includes LP for the longitudinal posterior position of the engine (rear longitudinal, a position that appeared on the Lamborghini Countach and then resumed on the Lamborghini Murcilago in 2006), 560 for the power developed by the V10, and 4 for the all-wheel drive with which it is equipped. The differences concern the aesthetics and the engine. The main modification of this Gallardo lies in its engine, an aluminum V10 developed according to the principle of communicating vessels. The 5.0 L V10 with dry sump lubrication remains the same: inaugurated at 500 hp on the first Gallardo, pushed to 520 hp in 2005 then 530 on the Superleggera, it is pushed here to 5.2 L (243 cm3) by IDS direct injection (Iniezione Diretta Stratifica) and reaches 560 hp at 8,000 rpm. The unsheathed block engine, which has thus undergone a bore and introduced a new map of the power supply, makes it a point of honor to reduce the moving masses, including the connecting rods and pistons, but also friction in order to reach 8,500 rpm. The engine output reaches 108 hp / L and the torque is 55 mkg (or 540 N m) at 6500 rpm, in particular due to the compression ratio of 12.5, which is high for a gasoline engine. This couple is also deployed by means of a viscous coupler. The weight of 1,500 kg, distributed at 43 at the front and 57 at the rear, results in a weight / power ratio of 2.7 kg / hp. The performance of this engine results in a 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 s and a 0 to 200 km / h in 11.8 s. The six-speed manual or automatic E-gear transmission is again present. However, the latter has undergone an in-depth modification in order to be lightened and to reduce the passage times between gears by 40: 200 ms previously for 120 ms now. Other important points have been revised to improve performance: the calibration of the spring / shock absorber combinations adjusted, a re-parameterized steering assistance or the appearance of silent-blocks and hub carriers. Lamborghini, and in particular its communications director, does not neglect the preservation of the environment with CO2 emissions down 18, reaching 327 g / km. The LP560-4 differs from other Lamborghinis by various aesthetic revisions, due to Walter deSilva, giving it a look somewhat reminiscent of the Lamborghini Murcilago LP640. The front end of the Gallardo 560 is remodeled in Lamborghini Reventn style with more pronounced fighter plane style features. The front openings were thus widened and enlarged, as well as the gills sculpted on the sides, all improving the cooling of the radiators and the engine. Like the Reventn, the nose is more pointed. The front and rear headlights are fitted with LEDs for daytime lighting: at the front, the LEDs take the form of a Y and at the rear, the design is that of propellers. A retractable spoiler makes its appearance at the rear, as well as a large black diffuser under the four round tailpipes. The aerodynamic gain is then 30. Finally, the LP560-4 sports new 20-spoke rims.
