The BRM P261 F1 OW 1964 is a classic Formula One single-seater race car that was built by the British Racing Motors (BRM) team. It was designed and constructed by a team of talented engineers and designers, led by the legendary Tony Rudd, and it featured a number of unique characteristics. The P261 was designed with an extremely slim chassis to reduce air drag and enhance aerodynamic performance. Its chassis, which was fabricated from magnesium alloy, measured just 462 cm long and 148 cm wide, with an overall wheelbase of 133 cm. The car was powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre BRM four-cylinder engine, which produced around 200 bhp at 8500 rpm. The engine was supplemented by a bespoke five-speed Colotti semi-automatic gearbox, which was durable, reliable and designed for seamless gear changes. The brakes were mounted inboard at both the front and rear, while the suspension was a conventional double wishbone set-up, with telescopic dampers at the front, and trailing arms at the rear. In order to keep the engine cool, the BRM P261 F1 OW 1964 was equipped with two air intake stacks on the side of the car, connected via ducts to twin-fan radiators. The car was also fitted with Dunlop disc brakes, 17-inch steel wheels with Avon tyres and a dry-sump lubrication system, as well as an electric starter and manual fuel pump. This classic Formula One race car was incredibly light, weighing in at just 470 kg (1034 lbs) due to the extensive use of lightweight materials, and it was capable of reaching top speeds of over 210 mph.
