Specifications BRM V16 F1 GP OW 1950 blueprint

The BRM V16 F1 GP OW 1950 is a classic, iconic single-seat formula racing car. This stunning beauty is considered to be the first truly successful purpose-built Grand Prix car. It certainly has a place in history as the first BRM racing car to win a Formula One World Championship. It boasts an equally significant history of appearances at both the Monaco Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix. The car was designed and built by advanced aerodynamics experts Raymond Mays and Peter Berthon in 1950. It is powered by a supercharged 1.5 litre V16 engine, producing 360bhp at 8500rpm. Inside the cockpit, the driver is perched in a single-seat race seat with just the tiniest of windows to view the track. The car features an aluminium tubular chassis frame, with a reinforced front suspension system featuring double wishbones and coil springs, and a rear de Dion axle with radius arms. The car has a five-speed manual gearbox, and uses four-wheel drum brakes. Externally, the BRM V16 F1 GP OW 1950 is a thing of beauty. Its classic curves are crafted from aluminium and the distinctive bonnet features air intakes for the supercharged V16 engine. The open exposed wheels feature a spoke design. The car weighs only 600kg, making it extremely light for a 1950s racing car. Thanks to its combination of power, speed and aerodynamics, the BRM V16 F1 GP OW 1950 proved to be highly effective in the 1950 Formula 1 Grand Prix season. This classic car of dreams continues to excite and awe to this day.
