The Brabham BMW BT55 F1 OW 1986 is one of the most iconic Formula 1 cars of all time. With its unmistakable navy blue and white color scheme and sleek aerodynamic design, it was one of the most iconic cars to grace the race track. The car was powered by a turbocharged 1.5 litre BMW four-cylinder engine and constructed with a combination of carbon fibre, Kevlar, and fibreglass making it the lightest Formula 1 car of its time. Despite being a few years old, the BT55 still proved to be competitive and reliable, with seven podium finishes in the 1986 season. The car featured an impressive ground effect aerodynamic system with blowers under the car, this allowing the car to generate huge amounts of downforce and high levels of grip. The suspension was also advanced for its time, featuring double wishbones and pushrods with coil-over springs and dampers all round. The BT55 was a true showcase of BMW and Brabhams engineering brilliance and a fitting way to commemorate their 2nd Constructors Championship in 1983.
