Specifications StuG III Ausf. A blueprint

The Sturmgeschtz III Ausf. A (StuG III Ausf. A) was one of the early variants of the iconic German assault gun used extensively during World War II. Developed on the chassis of the Panzer III tank, the Ausf. A variant was introduced in 1940 and played a significant role in German armored warfare tactics. Armed with a 7.5 cm StuK 37 L/24 gun, the StuG III Ausf. A was primarily designed for infantry support and engaging fortified positions with high-explosive shells. Its main armament, although effective against infantry and light vehicles, was less suitable for engaging heavily armored enemy tanks in direct combat due to its short-barreled gun. The vehicle featured a coaxial 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun for anti-infantry defense, providing additional firepower and versatility on the battlefield. This complemented its role in supporting infantry operations and enhancing overall battlefield effectiveness. Armor protection on the StuG III Ausf. A varied, with frontal armor thickness ranging from 30 mm to 50 mm. The design emphasized a low silhouette and strong frontal armor to enhance crew survivability and tactical flexibility. Powered by a Maybach HL 120 TRM engine producing 300 horsepower, the StuG III Ausf. A had a maximum road speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph), ensuring good mobility for battlefield maneuvers. Its operational range was about 155 kilometers (96 miles) on roads, allowing for extended missions and deployments. The StuG III Ausf. A played a crucial role in German armored tactics during the early years of World War II, contributing to infantry support and anti-tank operations. Although later variants with more powerful guns would supersede it in anti-tank roles, the StuG III Ausf. A laid the foundation for the success and evolution of the Sturmgeschtz series, marking its significance in military history. On our website you can download a drawing of StuG III Ausf.
