The March 881 F1 GP OW 1989 was a Formula One racing car designed and built by the now defunct British motor racing constructor March Engineering. It featured a chassis made from aluminium honeycomb composite, and was powered by a Ford Cosworth DFZ 3.5 litre V8 engine, capable of producing 660hp. The car was designed with an eye for aerodynamic efficiency in mind, with an aggressively sculpted monocoque, full-width bodywork, and a low nose design. Its sophisticated suspension setup, based around double wishbones, coil-over-shocks, and pushed behind the front axle, ensured optimum balance and responsiveness. The car was 2430mm in length, weighed in at 585kg, and featured slick tyres, enabling it to reach a maximum top speed of 370km/h. The car was raced briefly in the 1989 Formula One season with drivers Gregor Foitek and Derek Warwick, giving mixed results due to its unreliability. Reliability issues ultimately led to its retirement midway through the season, but the car was still a formidable piece of racing machinery when it was operational.
