The Lotus 29 Indy 500 OW 1963 was a race car built by the legendary British constructor Lotus. This car represents a pinnacle of innovation in the world of motorsport, with its swooping curves and sleek design. The car was built out of lightweight aluminum and magnesium alloys, allowing it to be exceptionally lightweight and agile on the track. The engine was a modified 4.2-liter Ford V8 that produced nearly 375 horsepower – enough to rocket it to speeds over 180 mph. The low, center-of-gravity design created a masterpiece of aerodynamics, helping the car stick to the track with remarkable stability. The 29 Indy 500 featured a number of revolutionary features for the time, such as a full-width radiator, full-width nose air scoop, double wishbone suspension, and 4-disc brakes. It had a slightly longer wheelbase than the preceding Lotus 24, allowing for improved cornering capabilities. The combination of these innovative features made the Lotus 29 one of the fastest and most popular Indy Cars of the era. To this day, the Lotus 29 remains a classic and beloved race car – a glorious reminder of a golden era of motorsport history.
