The Austin 1800 Sedan was a four-door family car that was made from 1968 until 1975 by British Motor Corporation (BMC), the successor to the Austin-Morris Alliance. It had a unibody construction, front engine layout, and rear wheel drive. In addition to its simple elegance, it had a number of innovative features like ventilated front brakes, a four-speed manual transmission, and an independent suspension system. Its square-shaped body provided ample head and leg room, though the vehicle's interior was far from luxurious. In the front, was a 1.8-liter engine which produced a modest 63 horsepower, and it was paired with either a vibrating traditional four-speed manual transmission or an optional three-speed automatic. The vehicle had wide steel bodied wheels with a 15 inch diameter and 165mm cross-ply tires. On the outside, this vehicle had a distinct profile. It had a square-shaped body with a flat roof and high-waisted tail section set off by simple curves along the sides. The Austin 1800 was equipped with a number of standard features which could be enhanced through optional features and extras. Standard features included: an adjustable steering wheel, heater, front and rear armrests, and an AM radio. Options included fog lights, tinted windows, rear window demister, and an electric sunroof. On the inside, the Austin 1800 featured teal-coloured upholstery, steel door panels and chrome fittings. All in all, the Austin 1800 was a reliable family car that made few compromises in terms of practicality and reliability.
