The Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting name Frogfoot) is a powerful Russian-built ground-attack aircraft designed to provide close air support for conventional military forces. Developed during the 1970s as a Cold War response to NATOs multi-role aircraft, the Su-25 is highly maneuverable and capable of dealing devastating firepower with unbeatable accuracy. A twin-engine jet, the Su-25 is ruggedly designed and built with maximum survivability in mind. It features an armored titanium cockpit and cockpit canopy surrounded by chaff and flares, secondary weapon control panels, and heavy armor on leading edges of wings and fuselage to provide protection against enemy ground fire. It is equipped with two Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-2, 30mm cannons with a ninety round capacity, and an array of air-to-surface missiles including Kh-13 and S-13s, wingtip-mounted R-60 and R-73 AAMs, KAB-500Kr laser-guided bombs, ARK air-to-ground rockets, and Kh-25 and KAB-500SH vacuum bombs. Combined with its advanced navigational and tracking systems, the Su-25 is an incredibly reliable and accurate weapon and has proven to be the preferred combat aircraft of its class. With its exceptional range, along with four external hardpoints for additional payloads, the Su-25 is able to deliver effective air-to-ground strikes up to hundreds of miles away. The Su-25 has been employed for a variety of missions, including interdiction, reconnaissance, CAS, air-to-air combat, and suppression of enemy air defenses. Its ability to execute pinpoint strikes with pinpoint accuracy and deadly force makes it the perfect choice for any modern military.
