The Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.9 was a British World War I Air Force fighter aircraft. The only trial copy was produced with the guidance of aircraft designer Jeffrey de Hevilland at the Royal Aircraft Factory. It was to replace the B.E.2 and produced as a competition for the German Fokker EI the first fighter with a synchronized machine gun. That aircraft was designers attempt to combine the high productivity of the tractortype screw and the pusher in one machine with the possibility of a good sight control. In autumn 1915 it was sent for testing mostly negative reviews were received.
