Specifications Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf.H blueprint

The Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf. H (Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. H) was a German medium tank used extensively during the early and mid-stages of World War II. It was an upgraded version of the earlier Panzer III models, featuring several improvements in armament, armor, and overall performance. The Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. H was armed with a 5 cm KwK 38 L/42 main gun, which was more effective against enemy armor than the 3.7 cm guns mounted on earlier models. This gun could fire both armor-piercing and high-explosive rounds, providing versatility in combat against both armored vehicles and infantry. Additionally, the tank was equipped with two 7.92 mm MG34 machine guns, one coaxially mounted with the main gun and the other in the hull, for engaging infantry and soft targets. The armor protection of the Ausf. H was significantly improved compared to its predecessors. The front armor thickness was increased to 30 mm, with an additional 30 mm bolted on, making it 60 mm in total. The side armor was also upgraded to 30 mm. These enhancements provided better protection against anti-tank weapons and small arms fire. Powered by a Maybach HL 120 TRM engine, the Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. H had a top speed of around 40 km/h (25 mph) and a range of approximately 155 km (96 miles) on roads. Its advanced suspension system and relatively light weight for a medium tank allowed it to be quite mobile on the battlefield, capable of traversing rough terrain with relative ease. The Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. H played a crucial role in the early German Blitzkrieg campaigns, including the invasions of Poland, France, and the Soviet Union. Its balanced combination of firepower, armor, and mobility made it one of the most effective German tanks during the early years of the war. However, as the war progressed and more heavily armored and armed tanks appeared on the battlefield, the Panzer III gradually became less effective in frontline combat and was eventually phased out in favor of more advanced designs like the Panzer IV and Panther.
