Specifications A7VU blueprint

The A7V-U was a proposed upgrade to the German A7V tank during World War I. The U in A7V-U stands for Umlaufende Ketten which translates to continuous tracks in English. The A7V-U was intended to address some of the shortcomings of the original A7V design, particularly its limited mobility and vulnerability to mechanical breakdowns. The most significant change proposed for the A7V-U was the introduction of a new suspension system featuring continuous tracks, similar to those used on British and French tanks of the time. This new suspension system was expected to improve the A7Vs mobility, allowing it to traverse rough terrain more effectively and reach higher speeds. Additionally, it was hoped that the continuous tracks would reduce the strain on the tanks drivetrain and decrease the likelihood of mechanical failures. Despite these proposed improvements, the A7V-U never progressed beyond the design stage. By the time the upgrade was considered, the war was nearing its end, and the German military was facing significant logistical challenges. As a result, resources were prioritized for other projects, and the A7V-U was ultimately abandoned.
