The Surtees TS16 was a single-seat racing car designed by the legendary John Surtees and built by his Surtees Racing Organisation for the 1975 Formula One season. The car was powered by the remarkable Ford-Cosworth DFV engine, a 3.0-litre V8 which was one of the most successful and widely used engines in F1 history, powering many podiums and wins between 1967 and 1983. The TS16 was a sleek and aerodynamic car, designed with an aerofoil-shaped monocoque chassis and a rear wing for improved downforce. It had a four-speed manual gearbox and was the first car in F1 to use carbon-fibre brakes - a technology developed with help from Firestone. Its V8 engine generated around 400bhp, enough to generate a top speed of around 210mph. It was a popular car in its day and achieved some success on the track, with four podiums and a single race win in 1975 - the Austrian Grand Prix. The car has since become a popular collectible due to its engineering excellence and racing pedigree.
