The Opel Rekord Sedan is a classic mid-size family car from the late 1950s and 60s. It was intended to be an affordable yet reliable car that could accommodate a family of four with ease. The Rekord featured a mono-body construction for lightweight performance and a low roofline which gave it a sporty look. The Rekord was the first model to be produced in the three-boxed sedan style, a design which became a staple of the Opel production line. The engine in the early models was a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.5L, that generated 60 horsepower. This engine was mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, with the gear ratios optimized for exhilarating performance and providing the luxury of improved highway cruising speeds.
