In June 1961, production of the NSU Prinz 4 began. The successor to the Prinz I, II and III (including the PrinZ 30) was presented in September 1961, at the IAA in Frankfurt. Unlike its predecessors, it had a significantly larger size and received a body in the style of the Chevrolet Corvair, it is designed by Claus Luthe. It is equipped with a two-cylinder 598 cm3 engine developing 30 hp. The suspensions are independent on the 4 wheels and the brakes, with discs, optional at the front. It is only 3.40 m long. The NSU Prinz 4 was also available with extended wheelbase 1,000, 1,100 and even 1,200cc versions. The chassis and transmission were derived from the Prinz III. It has a top speed of 116 km / h. In September 1965, the Prinz 4L version appeared with improved equipment. It was produced until April 1973, without noticeable change.
