The 1983 Nissan Prairie Hatchback was a revolutionary vehicle that broke the mold in hatchback design. Its iconic boxy design was highly functional and provided ample interior cargo space while still remaining relatively nimble. This vehicle was offered in a variety of colors and two engine options; either a 1.6L four-cylinder engine or a 2.0L four-cylinder engine. The engine was mated to either a four-speed manual transmission or a three-speed automatic transmission as standard. The exterior featured the classic boxy design that had a timeless appeal with a few modern touches. This included an adjustable rubberized bumper to absorb some of the shock from small bumps. The design provided lots of interior room for five passengers and could seat them comfortably with plenty of hip and leg room. The interior was also packed with plenty of amenities and storage options. With a large dashboard, adjustable steering wheel, and premium instrumentation, the Prairie Hatchback provided a functional and comfortable driving experience. The Prairie Hatchback also featured a comfortable suspension system and powerful engine that allowed for a smooth ride quality and dampened the effects of rough roads. The model was also known for its strong safety record and featured some of the latest safety features at the time, such as a collapsible steering column, with an "impact absorbing front structure" which undoubtedly helped the Prairie Hatchback to pass stringent crash test standards. Fuel economy was considered to be on the lower side of hatchbacks at the time but was still quite impressive. It's no wonder why the Nissan Prairie Hatchback was hailed for its extraordinary design and performance, and why it still remains a timeless classic to this day.
