The GMC CCKW 2.5 ton 6x6 Truck was a heavy-duty, all-weather utility vehicle first introduced to the public in 1941. Though it was originally designed for military purposes, the truck quickly became popular for a variety of commercial and civilian use due to its immense capabilities. No other truck can compare to the General Motor Corporations CCKW 2.5 ton 6x6 truck in terms of sheer durability and power. The CCKWs 6-wheel drive allowed for far superior traction even in the most adverse conditions- such as soft sand or mud. This truck was aptly nicknamed the Jimmy for its dependability and reliability in times of need. The GMC CCKW utilized a 6-cylinder, 212 cubic inch L head engine and gasoline was the preferred fuel for operation. It boasted a top speed of 45 mph and could achieve an impressive 8.5 miles to the gallon. The truck had an overall length of 20 feet, a width of 81 inches, a height of 92 inches, and weighed an approximate 5 tons. The vehicle featured two side entrances and three-seats for up to four passengers. The cargo area featured straps and sits to ensure secure transport of supplies. Additionally, the WWII-era CCKWs were equipped with a power take off (PTO) connection and military-specific fixtures, such as an adjustable machine gun mount, blackout lights, tire chains, and a blackout hood assembly.
