The Borgward B533 Truck, unveiled in 1961, was a staple of German engineering of the time. This medium-sized classic truck was fitted with a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, capable of up to 34 horsepower. It featured an impressive payload capacity of 1.4 tons, thanks to its robust construction. The B533's exterior design was a reflection of its sturdy construction, with its classic boxy shape and large, square windows. Its airy cabin was accessible via a side-mounted door, with two rows of seating for three people. The interior was remarkable in the year of its release, with thoughtful touches such as a steering wheel that stabilized on hard turns, and a center-mounted gear lever for easy shifting. The dash was equipped with clear dials and a heat lamp, enabling visibility in the winter months. Notable features on the outside included the large, trapezoidal-shaped headlights, heavy duty bumpers, and a wide grille. The B533 was offered with two different wheelbases, one of 2.6 metres and another of 3.2 metres, enabling a variety of configurations. Furthermore, modern features included an automatic-type starter and linkage transmission, making the B533 an attractive option for the pickup truck market in 1961. Lastly, its classic off-road capabilities were enhanced with a selectable low-range transfer gear, making it easy to manoeuvre within tight spaces.
