The Bedford QLD 3 Ton 4x4 Wireless Truck 1941 is an iconic British truck known for its numerous applications in both civilian and military contexts. This rugged truck was first introduced in 1938 and was designed to handle a wide range of rough terrain. It was capable of towing large loads, as needed, and weighed three tons when fully loaded. The engine was a 6-cylinder, four-stroke petrol engine with a capacity of 8 litres, producing 74hp at 2300rpm. The truck was also fitted with an innovative wireless communications system which allowed the operator to communicate with a base station. The Bedford QLD featured a sturdy and durable steel chassis, and its all-wheel drive system made it especially capable of tackling difficult terrain and surfaces. It was powered by two electric motors located either side of the rear axle, and the operator could select the required power output through a mode selection system. The combination of a powerful engine, a robust chassis, and an efficient AWD system made the Bedford QLD a prime choice for both domestic and military use. The exterior design of the Bedford QLD was characterized by an aerodynamic front grille which provided an improved level of air intake, and the vehicle featured large tires and heavy-duty suspension as standard. The interior was simple and utilitarian with a basic dashboard and an array of dials and controls to monitor and adjust the various systems. In addition to its standard features, the Bedford QLD was equipped with a range of optional extras such as an extra fuel tank, a searchlight, and a winch. All of these features makes the Bedford QLD a versatile and reliable truck for a variety of applications.
