The AAR Eagle Mk1 (T1G) was a Formula 1 Grand Prix race car built by the Anglo American Racers (AAR) for the 1966 season. Its distinctive orange, white, and blue livery represented the United States' spirit and drive to win, and carried AAR to victory in the 1966 Indy 500. The AAR Eagle Mk1 was constructed around a monocoque chassis that had a tubular frame running through it. This design helped to reduce weight and provide easier access to mechanical components. The car featured an aluminum honeycomb deck and bulkheads, which provided a great deal of stiffness without excessive weight. Powering the AAR Eagle Mk1 was a Coventry Climax 4.4 litre V8 engine, providing an output of around 430 bhp. This engine was mated to a Hewland 5-speed manual gearbox. The AAR Eagle Mk1 featured an aerodynamic body design with a sloping nose section, low-set wings, and an effective diffuser. These features, coupled with the low power of its engine, made it one of the fastest cars of the 1966 F1 season. The AAR Eagle Mk1 featured coil-over shocks and inboard disc brakes in the rear. This gave the car great handling, and allowed it to find grip around the corners. The car also had a light-weight construction, which allowed it to reach speeds of up to 189 mph (304 km/h). All in all, the AAR Eagle Mk1 was a unique race car that combined speed, efficiency, and aerodynamic qualities into one package. It was a force to be reckoned with on the track and, while it didn't win any championships, it is still remembered fondly by Formula 1 fans around the world.
