Douglas F3D was an American twinengine jet fighter produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company in Al Segundo California. The first maiden flight was on 23 March 1948. The airplane had been adopted with the United States Army in 1951 and had been used until 1970. A total of 265 fighters of this model had been designed. It proved itself well in the Korean War during which several significant aerial victories were won with its help. Sometimes additional fuel tanks were suspended to increase the flight range on underwing pylons.
