The FV214 Conqueror, a British heavy tank developed in the 1950s, was designed to counter the growing threat posed by Soviet heavy tanks like the IS-3 and T-10. The Conqueror served with the British Army from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, primarily in the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR) in West Germany. It was intended to support Centurion tanks by providing long-range anti-tank firepower. However, the rapid advancements in tank design and the emergence of more versatile main battle tanks led to the Conqueror being phased out in favor of more modern designs like the Chieftain.
