The M39 Armored Utility Vehicle, also known as the M39 UTTH, is an American-made tracked armored vehicle. It was developed in the 1950s and was used by the United States Army and Marine Corps as a cargo carrier, command and control vehicle, and artillery tractor. It is powered by a Continental AOS-895-3 6-cylinder diesel engine and has a top speed of 45 mph. The M39 has a maximum weight of 27.6 tons, a crew of 2 and can transport cargo or troops up to 10. It was armed with a .50 caliber machine gun on a ring mount and had a armor thickness of 0.5 inches. It also had amphibious capabilities and was able to swim across rivers and lakes. The M39 was phased out of active service by the 1970s, but some were later converted for use as range targets or for other non-combat roles.
