In 1972, UAZ released the 469 SUV, a vehicle that would be soon become synonymous with reliability, versatility, and power. Thanks to the lightweight yet robust steel frame, this all-terrain vehicle was extremely capable off-road and the go-to choice for explorers and adventurers. The 469 was available with two engine options, with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine (with 74 hp) being the more popular choice. Combined with a four-speed manual transmission, the 469 was capable of a top speed of around 100 kilometers per hour. The four-wheel drive was ideal for tackling every kind of terrain, from mud, sand, and snow, to rocky tracks and plains. Its robust suspension and low center of gravity made it comfortable in any environment. A spinning power take-off allowed the 469 to be used for a range of additional functions, such as to drive agricultural machinery, pumps, and saws.
