The Toyota TF108 F1 GP OW 2008 was a Formula One race car that was developed and produced by the Toyota racing team. This was the sixth car produced by the team and designed to compete in the FIA world championship of the 2008 season. The TF108 was notably Toyotas last Formula 1 car before they withdrew from the sport at the end of 2009 season. The car was one of the most advanced cars of its time, being constructed out of a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and featuring advanced aerodynamics. It was powered by the state-of-the-art Toyota RVX-08 3.0-liter V8 engine, which produced an impressive 760 bhp. The engine was designed in-house by Toyota engineers and the power was channeled to the rear wheels by a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox. The car was developed with great attention to detail. The crash structures and the wishbone suspensions of the TF108 were manufactured using the companys own aerospace grade aluminium alloy, L-Finesse. Additionally, the bodywork was designed and tested with wind tunnel models to ensure efficient airflow and maximum downforce. The 2008 season marked the first time in which Toyota used KERS technology on their F1 cars. The device used flywheel storage to store energy from braking for use during acceleration. This was an important step towards furthering the development of hybrid powertrains in Formula 1, which today is commonplace. All in all, the Toyota TF108 F1 GP OW 2008 was an advanced and sophisticated race car which laid the foundations for the future of Formula 1 in terms of technology and design.
