The Porsche 917/30 OW 1974 was the ultimate evolution of the racing variant of the iconic Porsche 917 endurance race car. The 1974 version was the most advanced iteration with a 5.4 litre flat 12 cylinder engine capable of producing upwards of 1100hp. This model was primarily designed for the North American Can-Am series, where it terrorised the competition. The chassis of the 917/30 OW 1974 was constructed out of aerospace-grade aluminium alloy and featured a lightweight, yet rigid design. The mid-engine setup also allowed for one large and two small radiators to be mounted in the rear of the car, allowing for optimal temperature regulation of the engine. A larger, distinctive rear spoiler was also added to help give additional downforce to the rear of the car. The exterior design of the 917/30 OW 1974 was a homage to the classic 917 race car. A white and blue colour scheme was used for the 1974 race season, helping the 917/30 stand out on the track. A variety of sponsors logos were added to the bodywork, which included Coca Cola, Firestone, Castrol and Champion. Driving the 917/30 OW 1974 was a unique experience. It was one of the most powerful and nimble race cars ever built, capable of reaching extraordinary speeds and accelerating quickly out of the corners. Furthermore, the combination of a broad spread of power, precise handling, and tight maneuverability allowed a driver to exploit every corner to its fullest. The Porsche 917/30 OW 1974 was an incredibly advanced car for its era, and the combination of its speed, handling, and power propelled it to numerous victories. Even to this day it is still seen as one of the greatest race cars ever built.
