The Mercedes-Benz W154 GP OW 1939 was an innovative and powerful racing car produced by Mercedes-Benz, for its customers competing in motor racing. It was powered by a V-12 supercharged engine, the mighty M154, a 3.04 liter engine that produced 491 hp at 6500 rpm and 630 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. The W154 GP OW was a fully open-wheeler, with a sporty aerodynamic bodywork designed by Hans Nibel. Its big V12 engine was mounted with a prominent transmission tunnel and featured a long nose and low, pointed nose. The cockpit was also designed with great attention to detail and was fitted with the most modern instruments available at the time. Inside, there was a dual-clutch gearbox, adjustable pedals, and a multi-spoke steering wheel, as well as space for two crewmen. The car was fitted with an all-wheel drive system with pushrod suspension, a dry sump lubrication, mechanical brakes, and sixteen-inch rims. With all these impressive features, the W154 GP OW 1939 had already proven its mettle as a world-famous racing car, with victories at the European Grand Prix and the Italian Grand Prix.
